Nyepi in Newcastle: A Sacred Silence Amidst the Universe’s Whisper

Silence Day in Newcastle, Australia
Silence Day in Newcastle, Australia

This year, I celebrated Nyepi, the Balinese Day of Silence, not in Bali but in Newcastle, Australia. It was a deeply personal experience—one that reaffirmed my belief that the universe listens when we manifest with intention.

Manifesting Nyepi in a New Place

For weeks, I had been longing to bring the essence of Nyepi into my life here—to create space for silence, reflection, and deep inner connection.

In Bali, Nyepi is a sacred day of stillness:

  • 🌿 No lights

  • 🌿 No noise

  • 🌿 No travel

  • 🌿 No distractions

The entire island comes to a standstill, honoring the cycle of renewal. I wanted to honor this tradition—even from afar.

So, on Saturday, March 29th, I invited my husband, Sebastien, to join me in this sacred practice. From 6 AM to 6 AM the next day, we committed to:

Complete silenceA full digital detoxWater fasting

No speaking. No distractions. Just stillness and presence.

An Unexpected Gift from the Universe

Then, something incredible happened.

That very day, the universe conspired to deepen the silence.

Not only was it Nyepi, but it was also a Solar Eclipse—a celestial alignment that amplified the energy of introspection and transformation.

But what surprised me the most was the profound quietness surrounding me.

I live in Jewells, a peaceful area in Newcastle, but this was different. The usual hum of life seemed to pause. The air carried a deep stillness, as if nature itself was honoring this sacred day with me.

Then, the rain came.

A soft, steady downpour blanketed the day in an even deeper serenity, muffling the outside world and mirroring the silence within.

A Powerful Affirmation of My Manifestation

It was a powerful affirmation of what I had asked for.

I had manifested Nyepi, stillness, and a moment of deep connection—and the universe responded in the most unexpected way.

As the hours passed in silence, I felt an immense sense of gratitude—for this practice, for my husband’s presence, and for the synchronicities that made this Nyepi feel just as sacred as the ones I experienced in Bali.

This experience reminded me that no matter where we are in the world, we can always create sacred space.

The rituals, the energy, and the intention—they transcend location.

Nyepi is not just a day; it’s a state of being.

And this year, I carried it with me, allowing it to unfold in the most unexpected and beautiful way.

🔮 The universe listens. Always. 🔮
